Candle Safety Tips
Before You Light a Candle
- Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use to prevent high flames and soot.
- Place candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces away from anything flammable.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Avoid drafts—don’t place candles near open windows, fans, or air vents.
While the Candle is Burning
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candles at least 12 inches away from curtains, bedding, books, and other flammable items.
- Don’t move a candle while the wax is liquid.
- Use candle holders that are sturdy and won’t tip over easily.
Extinguishing a Candle
- Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame—don’t use water, which can cause hot wax to splatter.
- Double-check the wick to ensure it’s fully extinguished.
- Don’t touch or move the candle until the wax has completely cooled.
Quick Safety Reminder
- Burn candles in well-ventilated rooms.
- Don’t burn candles all the way down—stop when ½ inch of wax remains.
- Keep multiple candles at least 3 inches apart to prevent melting each other.
- Don’t burn a candle longer than 3-4 hours at a time.
- We also recommend you allow your candle to burn completely across the top with each use.
